Floater, Huge Almandine Garnets (Soregaroli Coll.)

Large almandine garnets of this rich carmine-red color are rare from Ontario. This is an impressive, lustrous pair of textbook dodecahedrons with beautiful areas of cherry-red translucence, accented with starkly contrastng green chlorite. A fine and (nearly) pristine large pair from an obscure Ontario locale, this doublet is visually impressive and it is certainly hefty at about 3 pounds (1100 grams!). A choice old specimen which he probably self-collected, from the Dr. Art Soregaroli Collection. A striking 360-degree specimen with a myriad of display possibilities, this one really has some impact in a case.
