Item Description

Rarely do you see large, floater, fluorite cubes, such as this, from Southern Illinois. This translucent, lustrous, rich purple complex crystal has nifty, stepped-growth faces and is preferentially accented with a multitude of starkly contrasting, tiny, Barites. Many of the crystals are water-clear and are doubly terminated. This rarity is nearly pristine, with only periphery wear at the bottom of the cube in one spot and a couple of spots of very trivial edgewear. This outstanding specimen is from the much less common, Rosiclare Sub-District. Ex Mullane Collection and comes with two, older labels. The Bradleys label has a $50 price on it written on by Mullane at some point, one assumes, in the 1960s or 1970s. This was VERY expensive in the 1950 or 60s and tells you, that this is a premium specimen even in a time when these came out. Valued at $800-1000 today. Classic, hard to get material.
