Item Description

A striking, highly unusual, nearly transparent, colorless and doubly terminated, twinned gypsum crystal from the famous Lake Gilles of South Australia, Australia. The crystal is included with clay particles. This particular example is called an extended arrowhead twin. Lake Gilles produces some of the most unusual gypsum crystal forms in the world. In fine shape, with only modest edge and side wear. Most certainly a VERY strange-looking specimen! It looks carved! See the Mineralogical Record article in the May-June, 1982 issue, Vol. 13, No. 3. Ex Dennis Mullane Collection. Older material.
