Item Description

A classic and pristine large fishtail-twinned calcite crystal from a very obscure Tri-State District locality - the Barr Mine at Vinegar Hill. The sculptural, lustrous, translucent, straw-yellow crystal has nifty scalloped patterns on all faces. Calcite is very rare from this mine. Old-time desirable material from the George Feist Collection # 2465. His label and another older label says Joplin, Missouri, but the Barr Mine at Vinegar Hill is in Kansas. Valued at $1500.
