Item Description
A 2.2 cm, supremely lustrous, sharp, pristine, twinned tetragonal rutile crystal is jauntily perched atop matrix on this outstanding old-time example from famous Graves Mountain. The deep wine-red to nearly black crystal has beautiful areas of cherry-red color under bright light. From an East Coast collection and comes with a century-old faded and water-stained label. Graves Mountain rutile specimens were in the German literature by 1860! See the excellent article in the Mineralogical Record, Vol. 16, # 6, 1985. A Sharp and superb crystal beautifully displayed in matrix
