Dal'negorsk has produced some of the world's finest sulfide specimens, and this is an impressive and aesthetic, two-sided Galena piece that more than upholds that tradition. It is a classic of old finds here in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the kind we never see for sale today! The spinel-twin Galenas are splendent and robust, with the largest being an imposing 6.3 cm across. Perhaps the most intriguing characteristic is the 'melted look' of the surfaces, whose texture gives an incredibly rich look to the metallic luster of the Galena. There are clusters of golden Chalcopyrite, and all rest on a bed of black Sphalerite crystals. Classic and superb combination material from a renowned locality.. It is heavy , large, stunningly geometric in the hand, hard to convey in photos. This IS a significant specimen, not simply a reference locality galena, and was valued $3-5000 in the collection purchase. 612 grams - about a pound and a half in weight!
