Item Description

A fabulous, 7.9 cm, doubly terminated, striated scalenohedron included with a mass of bright copper from the famed Quincy Mine - classic material from the heyday here in the late 1800s and early 1900s (one assumes this would have come out then, too). The crystal rests on a matrix of smaller calcites, copper and a shard of volcanic rock. The contacted areas host complimentary green malachite. The crystal has fine clarity, highlighting the bright copper inside. The sharp termination is cleaved, with the back of the broad temination also being cleaved. These are certainly only modest detractions. This is an excellent, large, old-time piece from the Robert Whitmore Collection. BETTER IN PERSON!!! Valued at $600-750.
