Item Description

A fabulous, 6.2 cm, doubly terminated, striated scalenohedron included with a mass of bright copper from the famed Quincy Mine - classic material from the heyday here in the late 1800s and early 1900s (one assumes this would have come out then, too). The crystal rests on a matrix of smaller calcites, copper and epidote. Rarely do you find such a combination where the calcite is this clear, or the copper visible in such detail inside. The sharp termination is pristine, while the broad temination is gently bruised, but is certainly a very modest detraction. One out-of-sight face on the back of the broad termination is cleaved. This is an outstanding, old-time piece, and is one of the better auction lots here from the Belsky Collection. MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!!! Valued at $1500
