Item Description

A very rare specimen of Ferrisicklerite from the world famous silver mining district at Kutna Hora which dates back to the 10th century for mining, and has been a focal point of European mining hundreds of years. This is a good example of this material featuring the typical semi-translucent, yellowish-brown crystals on matrix. The species is a rare lithium iron phosphate that only forms as an alteration of Triphylite and Lithiophilite, and is most often seen as small rims around the partially altered crystals of Triphylite and Lithiophilite. This is the only one of these pieces that we've seen, and comes with a classic label from Josef Vajdak / Pequa Rare Minerals, which immediately increases the value.
