Item Description
Here we have a good quality and very rarely seen specimen of Ferrinatrite which gets its name from it's chemistry, as it's an iron (FERRI) sodium (NATRium) sulfate. The species was first discovered at the La Compañia Mine in Chile in the 1880s, and this piece is from that same locality. This miniature specimen features attractive gemmy, colorless crystals of Ferrinatrite measuring to a few mm, associated with yellow-orange crystals of Metavoltine, a notably rare association in nature. Specimens of this material, especially from the type locality are incredibly hard to find on the market, so if you're a fan of rarities, don't miss out on this one.
From the collection of John Dagenais (#JD-773), and originally from Jim Bratt.
