Item Description
A lovely cabinet display specimen of the rare zeolite Ferrierite-Mg from the Mt Oladri Quarries in the Monastir area on the island of Sardinia. These pieces are some of the most well-known, finest and most colorful examples of the species ever found. Ferrierite was named after Walter Ferrier (May 4, 1865 – November 15, 1950) who was a mineralogist / geologist with the Geological Survey of Canada, and was responsible for finding the first pieces of the species at Kamloops Lake, British Columbia. This specimen features several radiating aggregates of light pink-orange colored Ferrierite-Mg measuring up to 1.0 m across, associated with dark brown Calcite on matrix. Most of the Ferrierite groups are undamaged, though there are some contacted areas, keeping the piece from being completely pristine
