Ferberite with Quartz

Item Description

Contrasting transparent to milky Quartz crystals and nearly black metallic, iridescent Ferberite combine to form this well-balanced miniature from the noted Yaogangxian Mine. The lustrous Quartz crystals cross at nearly right angles and are transparent for much of their length except where they intersect and that area is milky. The vertically oriented Quartz measures 4.8 cm in length and has a perfect point. The other Quarts is 3.7 cm in length and has a single point on one end and multiple, slightly divergent terminations on the other. The metallic black-brown Ferberite has a captivating iridescent sheen to its 4 cm length and is lightly striated and doubly terminated. The crystal has several, ever-so-slightly divergent, platy crystals growing off the front and back of the piece and the right side of the crystal is flat and it's difficult to distinguish if it's actually a crystal face or a very clean and distinct cleavage trace, either way the piece is a well composed and balanced miniature!
