Ferberite with Fluorapatite, etc. (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

A classic specimen of from Panasqueira featuring attractive, sharp, bladed, black crystals of Ferberite (previously referred to as "Wolframite") measuring up to 3.7 cm long associated with a thick, tabular, translucent, pale green colored crystal of Fluorapatite measuring 2.3 cm across plus a single, gemmy, colorless, hexagonal prism of Quartz measuring 3.8 cm. Additionally, you can see a few compressed rhombs of tan-brown colored Siderite along with silvery-grey prisms of Arsenopyrite and attractive "rosettes" of silvery-golden colored Muscovite. The combination of species, especially in eye-visible, well-formed crystals is that makes the material from Panasqueira so special to many collectors. The piece is in good shape overall, with a few nicks here and there, but it's the associations and the quality of the crystals that really counts. A great old specimen of this beloved material. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4701) with a label from the collection of Sol Shalevetz. Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020.
