Ferberite with Dolomite

Item Description

A very aesthetic, two-sided, small cabinet ferberite and dolomite combination specimen from the famed Yaogangxian Mine. The sculptural cluster of three, terminated, parallel-growth, well-striated, metallic-bright, jet-black ferberite crystals are beautifully framed by contrasting aggregates of tiny, pearlescent dolomite rhombohedrons. The gem, 1.0 cm, quartz crystal on the lower center of the piece adds much pizzazz. The back is totally different, as it is totally covered with dolomite crystals and a sprinkling of clusters of an unknown, tiny platy mineral. The noted basal periphery wear at the base on the front is certainly a minimal detraction. See the 2011 Mineralogical Record article in China-III Special Issue, Vol. 42, No. 6.
