Item Description

Ferberite crystals from the Akchatau Mine in Kazakhstan are incredibly hard to find on the market, and this piece is certainly one of the best we've had to offer not just for the Ferberite crystals, but it features very rarely seen associated crystals of Bertrandite! Sharp, well-formed, jet-black bladed crystals of Ferberite free of matrix play host to beautiful cream-white colored "sprays" and single crystals of the uncommon beryllium silicate mineral, Bertrandite measuring up to 9 mm. The piece is not without damage, as the front edge of the lower Ferberite crystal is roughed up where it was separated from the pocket wall, but this is about the association, and the rare locality. You will not find another one of these on the market right now, they were mined decades ago, and they are incredibly hard to find even in private collections. A must have specimen for any fan of worldwide Ferberites, or unusual association specimens. I would put a retail value between $1,000-$1,500 on this one, not only for the fact that you never see them for sale these days, but if you do a search for these two mineral together from ANY world locality, you'll find this is an incredibly rare association. From the worldwide mineral collection of geologist, Demetrius Pohl (#191)
