Item Description
This piece is from the impressive Ferberite discovery in 2005 at the Tasna mine. An attractive small cabinet sized display specimen with unusual crystallization, and a hard to find Quartz and Marcasite association! The specimens from Tasna were sometimes previously referred to as "Wolframite", which was supposed to be an intermediary species between Ferberite and Hubnerite but has since been discredited. The piece features a several sharp, lustrous, aesthetic, jet-black, tabular Ferberite crystals with unusual form associated which are associated with small gemmy prismatic crystals of Quartz and minor Marcasite on matrix. It is very rare to find good Ferberite with this unusual crystal habit from Tasna, especially on matrix! For the overall appeal and visual aesthetics of the piece, it's an impressive Ferberite from Tasna. These Bolivian Ferberites are often underrated and stand up very well against any other Ferberites from China or Panasqueira. Really cool for the material, and better in person than the photos indicate! Valued at $500.
