Ferberite (twins)

Item Description

A nice display specimen featuring sharp, well-formed, semi-lustrous, jet-black, striated twinned Ferberite crystals free of matrix. There is some bruising / broken crystals on the piece, but it's still not a bad specimen for the material. The largest twin measures 2.0 cm. Panasqueira produced some of the most impressive and attractive Ferberite specimens extant, and pieces like this remind collectors that it is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain good specimens from this now defunct locality. A good looking piece for a "black rock". This habit is not terribly common from Panasqueira, and worth picking up if you would like a reference piece for your collection.
