Item Description

Here is a superb thumbnail sized twinned crystal of Ferberite. This species was sometimes previously referred to as "Wolframite", which was supposed to be an intermediary species between Ferberite and Hubnerite, but has since been discredited. This piece features the classic, "butterfly" twinning of Ferberite along the a (100) face. This piece is a sharp, aesthetic jet-black twinned crystal that is displayable from several angles. Minor Pyrite and Quartz can be seen on the front of the twin. One small contact is on the lower / under side / corner of the piece, but it's not terribly distracting. Twinned crystals from Bolivia have becoming increasingly difficult for me to obtain from Bolivia. These are definitely the most highly sought after crystal habit from this locality as well. This piece one of the most well-formed Ferberite twins that I have seen from Bolivia from a crystallographical standpoint.
