Item Description

Here is a lovely twinned crystal of Ferberite. This species was sometimes previously referred to as "Wolframite", which was supposed to be an intermediary species between Ferberite and Hubnerite, but has since been discredited. This piece features the classic, "butterfly" twinning of Ferberite along the a (100) face. This piece is a large, sharp, lustrous, aesthetic jet-black twinned crystal that is displayable from several angles. Admittedly, there is some damage to the piece, but it is such a great, large twin, that the damage is somewhat forgivable in my mind. It even has a small "baby" twin crystal in the center. Twinned crystals from Bolivia have become increasingly difficult to obtain from Bolivia. These are definitely the most highly sought after crystal habit from this locality as well. The retail value on this specimen is $1100
