Ferberite (superb) with Calcite

Some of the finest examples of Ferberite in the world are those from Panasqueira. The crystals are often large for the species, with notably sharp and lustrous faces. This piece is a fantastic example of this material, I dare say it's a "killer", featuring a large, predominant, sharp, lustrous, thick, prismatic, jet-black crystal with a few accessory Ferberites at the base, associated with slightly "curved" rhombic white crystals of Calcite on the back. The piece is in amazingly good condition for the size, though not entirely damage-free. Most of the big Ferberites from this area are often badly damaged, or filled with little nicks and chips, but this piece is in much better condition than that majority I've seen. It would look fantastic on display in a case, though it would need a custom base to properly show it off. If you've ever wanted one of these magnificent Ferberite specimens for your collection, this is a great opportunity to get a top-shelf piece from this prestigious mineral-producing locality. If I had this one on the shelf for sale at a show, I would price it at about $7,500 retail for the size, quality, aesthetics and the important locality.
