Item Description

An unusual and certainly unique Ferberite specimen from this famous Bismuth locality in southern Bolivia. This species was sometimes previously referred to as "Wolframite", which was supposed to be an intermediary species between Ferberite and Hubnerite, but has since been discredited. This piece features several fairly sharp, semi lustrous, metallic black blades of Ferberite forming slender twins, (twinned on the "a" {100} face), forming a very interesting multi-twinned crystal group. The piece is not 100% damage free, as you can see from the photos, but it really stands out from the majority of Ferberites we've offered in the auctions. This mine has arguably produced the finest twinned Ferberites extant.
