Item Description
A cool and attractive Ferberite specimen from this famous Bismuth locality in southern Bolivia. This species was sometimes previously referred to as "Wolframite", which was supposed to be an intermediary species between Ferberite and Hubnerite, but has since been discredited. This is an eloquent piece featuring several sharp, lustrous, jet black blades of Ferberite forming slender twins, (twinned on the "a" {100} face. There are several twins on the front of the specimen creating a multi-twinned crystal group. Considering that the large majority of Ferbs from Tasna have serious damage problems, this one is in really good shape, and displays well from a few angles. Better in person, but certainly an eye-catching piece of this classic material. This mine has arguably produced the finest twinned Ferberites extant. Valued at $700-$800.
