Ferberite ex Campbell

This is an exceptional tabular, parallel grouping of highly lustrous, well-terminated (some even doubly) bladed Ferberite crystals. The largest crystal in the group measures 6.5 cm in length and widest of the blades is 4.4 cm across and there are at least six crystals that make up this cluster. All of the stout blades display a wedge-shaped termination and all of the Ferberite crystals are lightly striated and display a sheen to the faces largely due to the striations. Numerous, brownish tan, millimeter-size Siderite crystals cover much of the very bottom of the piece. There is some minor contacting locally that isn't readily apparent due to the dark sub-metallic luster of the piece. The piece is quite hefty as well as one would expect from this ore of tungsten! A very attractive and architectural piece. A superb old classic from the 1960s and 1970s heyday here at this important specimen locality, and long in the worldwide suite of our friend and staff mineralogist, Dr. Tom Campbell.
