Item Description
An incredibly thick and dramatic, cyclically-twinned cerussite crystal from the famous and now-closed Tsumeb Mine. This sculptural, very glassy, water-clear fatty has a pleasing smoky tint and the beautifully beveled blade is indeed, striking. Yes, there is damage, with broken crystals on the edges, and moreover the striking vertical blade has almost certainly been re-attached/repaired. Irregardless, this remains a very rare and thick, beautiful, and highly representative example of the species and varietal from this renowned locale. If pristine, it would be $5000 and so here you can get the look of one of these classics, for a lot less, since it looks like a million bucks sittign on the shelf. As a guide, we value it $500-750. You can look straight through from either end of this old-time crystal. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON. Heavy lead! 423 grams or nearly a pound.
