Item Description
The Foote Mine, a lithium-rich granite pegmatite, is famous for a variety of rare phosphates and silicates. Fairfieldite is a rare phosphate, usually found in granite pegmatites. Lamellar crystalline aggregates of lustrous, translucent gray crystals cover the sculptural matrix plate on this rich, showy and excellent older specimen. The crystal density is noteworthy. This is the finest locality in the world for the species! all were collected by Jack Eaker, mine lab manager, in the 1960s-1970s
