Item Description

Ezcurrite is a ridiculously rare borate species, only reported from two localities on Earth. The species was named after Juan Manuel de Ezcurra, who was the owner of the Tincalayu Mine, the type locality for the species. The Tincalayu Mine is located in the desolate Salar del Hombre Muerto (Dead Man's Salt Flat), and several borate species were first discovered there. This piece is a good example of Ezcurrite featuring a slightly translucent, colorless/white striated prismatic crystal. A great piece for any fan of rare minerals or species from the type locality.
