An intricate and beautiful Chinese soapstone carving of an idealized scene of a round home with a thatched, conical roof partially hidden beneath a gigantic grape arbor. The Chinese have been master stonecarvers for millenia and this is a fine example of their craft. Soapstone is a soft metamorphic talc schist and the variable green colors are jade-like. The measurements include the custom-made wooden base. 3.7 pounds or 1.7 kilos.
