Item Description

Bright, rich sky-blue mounded bubbly botyroids cover both sides of the very colorful and sculptural lightweight crust dramatically accented with a yellow-green mineral, Doyleite, on one side from a recent 2016 find. The blue botryoids were incorrectly identified as gibbsite, an Al-oxide and very uncommon, worldwide. Doyleite is a polymorph of Gibbsite. Polymorphs are two or more minerals that contain the same chemical composition, but differ in their atomical arrangement and crystal structure. Testing has proven, that the Gibbsite is actually Evansite, a RARE hydrated Al-phosphate. See: https://www.mindat.org/mesg-432327.html#434179. This is an extremely fine, aesthetic and uncommon example of the combination species from a small recent find. Gorgeous, unusual, and interesting!
