Item Description
Euxenite-(Y) is a fairly common multiple REE oxide found in pegmatites. It is very rare from this obscure pegmatite and this a superb example. The sculptural offset pair of tabular orthorhombic crystals have striking twinned terminations, which are common for the species. The crystals have a light to dark brown oxidation rind. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only gentle scuffing. It looks very much like well-formed twinned feldspar crystals. This is an outstanding old-time piece. Superb and rare, well-terminated specimens of this quality likely date from the 1930s to 1950s. From an East Coast collection and comes with a Hugh Ford label dating from 1946-57.
