Item Description
Euxenite-(Y) is RARE from any of the pegmatites of the famous Alto Ligonha District. This is an outstanding fan-shaped cluster of stout, moderately lustrous, gray-beige (an alteration rind) prisms. Broken areas at the base reveal highly lustrous, brownish-black resinous crystals. A superb and rare, well-terminated example, with only trivial periphery wear. Rarely on the market in this quality. Specimens of this quality date from the 1930s to 70s. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection. Formerly in the Pappy Yeats Collection of the Texas Tech Geology Department (A well known collection of a prominent geologist, sold off in the 1980s). A hefty REE specimen at 330 grams mass. A must for the species collector. Value???
