Euxenite-(Y) (fine rare crystals)

Item Description

Euxenite-(Y) is a relatively hard to find rare earth oxide mineral. This particular specimen is from the lesser-known Ile Mine (near Alto Ligonha) in Mozambique. It was collected somewhere between the 1930s to 1970s. This piece features notably sharp, well-formed, prismatic tan-brown color crystals with well-formed faces on all sides, in a "fan"-shaped formation. It's in good shape with a somewhat "contact termination" on the top, but better than almost anything I've had to offer from this locality in the past.. You don't see many like this with such excellent crystal form and good color. It should be noted that Euxenite-(Y) is typically a dark brown-black hue, and the outer tan color on the exterior of this piece is actually a surface alteration. An excellent specimen of a mineral that is rarely seen on the market, especially in this quality.
