Euxenite-(Y) (fine rare crystal) (ex Carles Curto Milá Collection)

Euxenite-(Y) is a relatively hard to find rare earth oxide species, and some of the best examples are those from the various localities in Madagascar. This particular specimen was labeled as coming from "Ankajobe", but I can't find a listing for that specific locality, but it's certainly from somewhere in Betafo. This piece is a notably sharp, well-formed, prismatic tan color crystal with well-formed faces on all sides. It's actually undamaged, save the base where it was removed from the pocket wall. You don't see many like this with such excellent crystal form and no discernible damage. It should be noted that Euxenite-(Y) is typically a dark brown-black hue, and the outer tan color on the exterior of this piece is actually a surface alteration. An excellent specimen of a mineral that is rarely seen on the market, especially in this quality. From the collection of Carles Curto Milá (#2002.14).
