Item Description
A large, crude but terminated, mostly complete crystal of Euxenite-(Y), a rare yttrium niobate, that exhibits a nearly black, sub-metallic interior and with a white to yellowish surface alteration coating. The mineral is undoubtedly metamict from contained actinide elements. Euxenite generally occurs in pegmatites of a unique composition (NYF type).
