Item Description
Eudialyte is a complex cyclosilicate that is not often seen in gem grade material. Most examples of the speice are opaque, so when you have a set like this, it's a big deal, even if the gem is under 1 carat. Both the rough and the cut gem are from the Kipawa alkaline complex, Quebec, Canada, where some of the best colored Eudialyte is found. The stone in this set is a fine, flame red color (similar to Rhodochrosite from South Africa) "Brilliant Cut Corner Rectangle" cut gem with only very very slight inclusions. It's about as saturated and pure as I've seen for a gem this size. The accompanying rough is more on the pinkish-red side of the spectrum and though it's not really crystallized, it does show some amazingly GEMMY areas on the side of the specimen. You don't see Eudialyte in this color and quality very often, so if you collect rarities, don't miss out on this one. Valued at $650 together.
