Item Description
A rare and excellent specimen of a 1.2 cm, free-growing, trigonal, lustrous, carmine-red eudialyte crystal very jauntily embedded atop contrasting matrix from the Khibiny Massif of Russia. Eudialyte is a RARE sodium, calcium zirconium silicate found only in unusual igneous terrains, such as nepheline syenites and alkalic granites. This is an exceptional and showy example of this rare species from this locality. Usually they are without luster and form in the massive rock, which is chipped to reveal the xls inside. THIS PIECE however, has a large crystal of the finest possible quality, naturally growing into an open pocket and so with remarkable luster you normally would not see. The other, partially excavated sharp crystals add much richness and quality. Its an important piece. Valued 700-900.
