Item Description
A 3.2 cm, sharp, lustrous, brownish-red trigonal eudialyte crystal is jauntily perched atop matrix of eudialyte crystal sections and massive eudialyte on this showy and excellent old-time small cabinet piece from near the Type Locality on Greenland (similar deposit, in any case, and probably also quite old). Eudialyte is a rare very complex Zr-silicate found in exotic alkaline igneous rocks. A bit of bruising is noted, but is certainly acceptable in the context of this old-time piece. These crystals are HUGE for the species, unusually sharp and well defined for this locality, and significant. From an East Coast collection and comes with a faded 100-year old label. A fine old-time example of the species and locale, valued $1500-2500 depending on the market and finding the right bidder. It is, no matter what, a significant specimen..
