Item Description

A beautiful thumbnail sized piece of what are the finest Erythrite specimens in the world. Bou Azzer for many years has been the source of some excellent crystallized minerals, particularly Erythrite. This piece features a "spray" of sharp, lustrous, rich reddish-purple colored, monoclinic blades of Erythrite measuring up to 5 mm, which are associated with soft metallic grey colored crystals of Skutterudite, and no matrix. The piece is almost completely crystallized all the way around. Ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection. Along with amassing one of the finest private mineral collections in the world, Steve is a renowned mathematician. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007.
