Fine, classic specimen of the cobalt mineral Erythrite, from the heralded Bou Azzer Mine in Morocco. Erythrites are instantly recognizable for a sensational, rich magenta color that is usually enhanced by a superb, glassy luster, as we have on the faces of these bladed crystals. The luster along the edges of the crystals, which form 'fans' at this angle, is also very good, and really accentuates the radial pattern. This miniature is blessed with numerous books of these slender crystals, the largest of which is the 1.1 cm. Where the faces are exposed or cleaved, they look like polished, magenta glass just waiting to be incorporated into a Tiffany mosaic. Such good form and aesthetics make this a highly-representative and attractive Erythrite for Bou Azzer. 1980s material. Valued $1000-plus.
