Erythrite

Rich, two-generation specimen of the gorgeous cobalt mineral Erythrite, from the heralded Bou Azzer Mine in Morocco. Erythrites are instantly recognizable for a sensational, rich magenta color that is usually enhanced by a superb, glassy luster, as we have on the faces of these bladed crystals. The luster on the edges of these books tends more towards silky, and the shape of these crystals with their angled terminations is classic. The second generation presents itself as small, pink spheroids, and they complement the larger crystals nicely with their color contrast. This large, cabinet-sized specimen is blessed with numerous books of slender crystals, the largest of which is the 2.8 cm 'bowtie' composed of two crossed clusters. Where the Erythrite is in thin blades, the transparency makes them look like polished, magenta glass just waiting to be incorporated into a Tiffany mosaic. Such good form and aesthetics make this a highly-representative, and large, Erythrite for Bou Azzer. Old, pre-1980s material, in superb condition.
