Item Description

Arguably the most famous Epidote locality in North America is Green Monster Mountain in Alaska. This attractive small cabinet display specimen host hundreds of fine, quality very sharp, rather lustrous, rich green colored, prismatic crystals of Epidote aesthetically intergrown to form a few beautiful "fan"-shaped groups which are associated with a colorless gemmy Quartz crystal on the side to create a showy overall piece. The specimen displays beautifully as you can see from the photos. The back of the specimen has a bit of a blue-grey colored coating of what I believe to be Actinolite, and you can see a small Quartz crystal at the base of the specimen, which is completely included with this blue-grey mineral. Priced at $750 in the inventory. Very good condition all around, almost completely damage free, despite a few tiny nicks. A fine quality and eye-catching association specimen of this famous classic material. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
