Item Description

The Nangarhar Province in Afghanistan is incredibly well-known for its pegmatite minerals (Tourmaline, Spodumene, etc.), but the pieces from Marki Khel are actually from a metamorphic skarn deposit. You don't see many of these lesser known Epidotes on the market, but they are significant as they are not Pakistani in origin, like most we've seen out there. This piece hosts sharp, gemmy, lustrous, beautiful yellow-green colored crystals of Epidote measure up to 6 mm associated with small grey-black modified crystals of Magnetite, and I even found a couple dark green crystals of Diopside when I was looking at the piece with a loupe. Most of the crystals are damage free in the center of the specimen. A decent piece from this less known locale in Afghanistan.
