Epidote with Magnetite

Item Description

Despite the fact that this province is incredibly well-known for its pegmatite minerals (Tourmaline, Spodumene, etc.), these specimens are actually from a metamorphic skarn deposit. These are some of the lesser known Epidotes from this area, as most people associate Epidote with Pakistan. This piece hosts dozens of sharp, lustrous, golden-green (more of a green hue in different lighting), gemmy, well-formed compressed crystals of Epidote associated with octahedral Magnetites. The largest Epidote measures 6 mm, and most of them are damage free. There is also an unidentified, translucent off-white (slightly pinkish) crystal on the specimen (possibly Titanite or Calcite?). An attractive small cabinet specimen from this interesting occurence in Afghanistan.
