Item Description

Despite the fact that this province is incredibly well-known for its pegmatite minerals (Tourmaline, Spodumene, etc.), these specimens are actually from a metamorphic skarn deposit. These are some of the lesser known Epidotes from this area, as most people associate Epidote with Pakistan. This piece hosts a handful of fine quality, sharp, very lustrous, greenish-golden color, gemmy, well-formed crystals of Epidote with minor dark green prismatic Diopside on matrix. The largest Epidote measures 1.2 cm long, and the piece is damage free on the display side (with a slight contact on the back) An attractive and hard to find thumbnail sized specimen from this interesting occurence in Afghanistan.
