Item Description
One of the great classics from the Alps is Epidote from the world famous Knappenwand in Austria. The best of these crystals are the finest and most celebrated examples of the species extant. This piece is a wonderful association specimen of this classic material featuring sharp, lustrous, prismatic, green crystals of Epidote measuring up to 2.0 cm long associated with very thin, fibrous, blue-grey colored "Byssolite" (Actinolite) and a bit of gemmy, colorless Calcite on the side. The Epidote crystals are decent for the locality, but this is more of a reference association piece. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10443). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
