Item Description

It has become increasingly more difficult to obtain top specimens from this locality, especially good quality specimens like this one. Epidote is one of the most well known of all the Alpine cleft species in the world, and some of the finest Epidote specimens have come out of Pakistan. This cabinet specimen is nearly identical to the classic Alpine specimens from Europe, although neither the Epidtotes nor the Byssolites are quite as developed as the truly great combination specimens that you see, but rarely find. Nonetheless, the Epidotes are lustrous and gemmy, with good, rich green color. The minor Byssolites have the classic, hair-like habit. This cluster exhibits the classic "Faden" (German word for string) form that is well known in many Epidotes. You can see the Faden running the length of the specimen, right down the middle. This a very good quality specimen that displays very well, and would fit nicely into any collection. Good pieces are next to impossible to obtain from the classic European localities. Originally priced at $650 in the 1990s. Worth more, today.
