Item Description
This piece is from the 2011 discovery, and I have to say that they might be the most unusual and interesting Epidote crystals from any locality in Pakistan. These pieces came out of Baluchistan (where the exciting Brookite and Anatase specimens have been coming out for several years). These pieces do not have the characteristic thin prismatic appearance of those from places like Tormiq or Alchuri, but rather are opaque and often thick / blocky, with a notably darker green hue. Additionally they have a distinctive secondary coating of what I'm told is Magnetite, as these crystals actually show a weak magnetism when exposed to magnetic objects. This cabinet sized display specimen features thick, stout, orthorhombic crystals which textbook form and great three-dimensional appeal. You can see accessory secondary crystals on the back as well. It is mostly damage free, and mostly crystallized all the way around, with only one point of attachment or separation mark on the bottom / back side. The main crystal measures 7.2 cm long, and is clearly doubly-terminated, which is not common for Epidote in my experience. A very good bigger specimen of this now difficult to find material. It is clear that this material is no longer being found, and virtually nothing is available on the market now, so pick this one up as these are unique and interesting for the species. Priced at $1,250 in the inventory.
