Item Description

These unique Epidotes from the Raskoh Mountains of Pakistan are instantly recognizable for their unusual form. These pieces are might be the most unusual and interesting Epidote crystals from any locality in Pakistan. They do not have the characteristic thin prismatic appearance of those from places like Tormiq or Alchuri, but rather are opaque and often thick / blocky, with a notably darker green hue. Additionally they have a distinctive secondary coating of what I'm told is Magnetite, as these crystals actually show a weak magnetism when exposed to magnetic objects. This small cabinet sized display specimen features a thick, stout, orthorhombic crystal with pseudo-hexagonal form and great three-dimensional appeal. You can see accessory secondary crystals on both the front and back of the piece. It is nearly a complete "floater", as it's crystallized all the way around, with only one tiny point of attachment on the bottom / back side. A very good bigger specimen of this now difficult to find material. It is clear that this material is no longer being found, and virtually nothing is available on the market now, so pick this one up as these are unique and interesting for the species. From the dealer stock of Herb Obodda.
