Epidote (unusual locality) (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

Please note: This piece came labeled as coming from a locality called "San Pedro Martir", and I was able to find a specimen on mindat that was reported to come from there, so I believe the locality is valid. The piece hosts a predominant, large, sharp, lustrous, doubly-terminated, dark green Epidote crystal at the center which is surrounded by dozens of additional Epidotes of equal quality. The luster is what really stands out on the piece, as it truly glistens on every side. The back of the main crystal is contacted, but the rest of the piece is actually very well-crystallized, even on the bottom, and were it not for the contact, I would say that this could have potentially been a complete "floater" specimen, as there are several areas of healing ("re-healing") all over. This is certainly a are locality specimen, and would make a great addition to any Mexican mineral collection or a suite of worldwide Epidotes. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5052). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020.
