Item Description

An impressive, large for the locale stout epidote crystal from Alaska's famous Green Monster Mountain. The lustrous, sharply terminated black crystal is twinned on the ends. Areas of lighter pistachio-green epidote and the well-placed clusters of quartz crystals are outstanding complements and accessories to this very fine crystal. Complete all-around and essentially pristine. The contact lower on the back has no damage, per se. Good Green Monster specimens are hard to find, especially in light of how difficult the collecting conditions are. The locality is easily the source of the finest US epidotes. Specimens of this excellence and habit were recovered in the 1970s, 80s and 90s. Rarely on the market, except from recycled advanced collections.
