Epidote (self-collected by Al Ordway) (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

A 2.5 cm group of very sharp, highly lustrous, thick, prismatic Epidote crystals on matrix from the lesser known Jensen Quarry in Riverside County, California. I have honestly never seen a good crystallized Epidote like this from this locality, and if you collect California minerals, this a great opportunity to add a beautiful display specimen of this very hard to find material. Valued at $700. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#13003). The label states that this piece was self-collected by Al Ordway (collection #6711). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
